Home to exquisitely beautiful shrines made of marble and sandstone, the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple is a Hindu place of worship. The temple also has an amphitheater, a majlis, a library, a garden, asports centre, a book shop and two community centres that can accommodate 5,000 people comfortably. To begin with, it’s the largest temple outside India. Built with marble and pink sandstone imported all the way from Rajasthan in India, the BAPS Swarminarayan Temple features stunningly beautiful carvings on its walls telling the stories of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The temple promotes global peace and harmony and is an oasis of spirituality.
The amount invested in the construction of the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple was around Rs.700 crores. It’s a grand temple with magnificent traditional Hindu architecture.
The most unique feature of the construction of the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple is the use of 50% fly ash, stone and earthen bricks in building its foundation that make the temple ecofriendly and sustainable.
The BAPS Swaminarayan Temple was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Sri NarendraModi in the presence of other dignitaries from the UAE.
The BAPS Swaminarayan Temple opens every day at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 8:00 p.m. You can witness the morning aarti at 7:30 a.m. and the evening aarti at 7:30 p.m. everyday.
Yes the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple does have a dress code in place. Visitors are to wear clothes that cover their backs, their chests, their knees, their shoulders and their midriffs. If the temple authorities feel that you have dressed inappropriately you will be given a cloth to cover yourself with.
